Abandonment of employment policy

Purpose


To ensure compliance with the Collective Employment Agreement and Individual Employment Agreements and to ensure the business is protected when team members do not turn up for work.

Policy/Procedure


If you are absent from work without permission from your manager or without notification for a specific period of time it can result in you being deemed to have abandoned your employment.

Our policy on this is also set out in the Individual Employment Agreement:
“If you are absent from work for three consecutive days without the consent of, or notification to us, or without just cause, you shall be deemed to have terminated your employment.”

Wherever possible your manager will make an effort to contact you before terminating the employment.

Abandonment of employment is deemed to be resigning without notice and can lead to forfeiture of an amount of money equal to your notice period.
