House Rules

It is important that we have safe, productive and law abiding workplaces and that you are fully aware of the types of behaviours we find unacceptable in the workplace. Unacceptable behaviour will be considered either serious misconduct or misconduct as per the examples set out below. 

Misconduct

Examples of misconduct that may incur a warning, final warning, or dismissal on notice if you have pre-existing warning/s (which can be for events of a dissimilar nature) are listed but not limited to:
  • Offensive language or rudeness to customers, suppliers or team members
  • Failing to report to your Manager as soon as practical if late or absent
  • Unauthorised absences without acceptable explanation
  • Failing to report damage of Company property to management (or damage to any property on company occupied premises)
  • Smoking anywhere other than a deisgnated area/s
  • Ceasing assigned duties without advising management or without reasonable excuse
  • Substandard performance
  • Failure to comply with company policies or procedures
  • Failure to comply with company safety, hygiene, environmental or quality standards
  • Horseplay, practical joking, skylarking, wasting time or resources
  • Failure to meet the Company's commonly accepted standards of neat and tidy appearance including proper uniform attire
  • Breach of safety requirements
  • Using company computer facilities for unauthorised non-work purposes

Serious Misconduct

For a single action or behaviour that is totally unacceptable you may be dismissed without notice for serious misconduct, following a full and fair investigation. Examples of serious misconduct are listed but not limited to:
  • Misrepresentation of, or failure to disclose, relevant personal information in relation to obtaining employment with The Warehouse
  • Unauthrorised possession, removal or movement of property belonging to the Company, or to a customer, supplier, or contractor, or another Team Member. This includes items which may be termed scrap or damaged. All personal purchases require a sales receipt which must be provided for inspection on request
  • Abuse or destruction of Company property or other property on Company occupied premises
  • Removing cash or other funds from the till, safe or other Company premises without authorisation
  • Failing to ring on every product presented at checkout including returns; and/or unauthorised transactions at POS including price overrides, product or transaction deletions, voids, or serving family or friends or yourself
  • Destroying or misplacing cheques or credit card vouchers without authorisation
  • Abuse of discounts including but not limited to unauthorised staff discount, re-sale of discounted purchases, etc.
  • Divulging personal employee number or password to another Team Member
  • Using another Team Memeber's password or pin number at POS or elsewhere
  • Signing another Team Member in or out at POS, for attendance at work
  • Falsifying records or documentation including but not limited to, timesheets, wage records, expense claims, finance and accounting records, personal information, computer files, etc
  • Serious breach of Company Network Policy, or serious abuse of computer facilities including, but not limited to, sending offensive emails or accessing pornographic material or confidential information
  • Unauthorised disclosure of confidential information
  • Leaving the workplace during working hours without authorisation or without reasonable explanation
  • Fighting or assault
  • Threatening, intimidating, or interfering with another Team Member or anyone on Company premises
  • Sexual or racial harassment or unlawful discrimination
  • Possessing or bringing onto Company premises any weapon or other article posing danger to others
  • Reporting to work unfit for work due to consumption of alcohol and/or illegal drugs
  • Possession or consumption of alcoholic beverage whilst on Company property without the Company's permission
  • Possession or consumption of illegal drugs whilst on Company occupied premises
  • Refusal/failure to follow reasonable instructions of management
  • Criminal charge or conviction in breach of Company policy
  • Bringing the Company into disrepute
  • Serious failure to observe safety requirements including safe working practices and reporting of any injury on Compnay occupied premises
  • Failing to actively participate in an ACC rehabiliation programme
  • Conduct or behaviour that materially affects the continued trust and confidence in the employment relationship
  • Serious performance failings that result in significant financial, purchasing or other detrimental impacts on the business.
