Introduction
The Company supports requests for absence for those required to attend court either by subpoena as a witness or to serve on a jury. If you are notified that your name has been drawn for jury service or you have been subpoenaed as a witness, inform your manager as soon as possible.
You will need to put in a leave application.
For permanent team members, we will give you paid special leave for your normal working hours. Your ordinary pay will continue and you must reimburse the Company the amount paid to you by the Court (excluding travel reimbursement).
There may be times when you will be released from Court attendance for a particular day quite early in the day. If that happens and it is otherwise a normal working day for you then you must return to work on that day. This includes Nightfill team who will not be required to work their normal rostered nights but may be able to work during the day time.
If you are no longer required to serve on the jury you must return to work.
Whilst jury service is a civic duty of all citizens there are occasions when critical work requirements may mean we can request jury service to be deferred. Please consult with your Manager for details.
